Only 2 of 15 current pitchers we track are certified for PFAS

Which water filter pitchers are certified to remove PFAS?

Of the 15 current water filter pitchers we track, only the PUR PLUS 11-cup (Total PFAS) and the ZeroWater 10-cup (PFOA and PFOS) have a certified PFAS reduction, both listed by IAPMO R&T under NSF/ANSI 53.

We checked certifier listings for 15 pitchers on sale as of 2026-10-23.

The PUR PLUS 11-cup pitcher is listed by IAPMO R&T under NSF/ANSI 53 for Total PFAS, a mixture of seven PFAS (PFOA, PFOS, PFHxS, PFNA, PFHpA, PFBS, PFDA).

The ZeroWater 10-cup pitcher (ZP-010) is listed by IAPMO R&T under NSF/ANSI 53 for PFOA and PFOS, along with lead, mercury and hexavalent chromium.

Brita Elite pitchers are certified for lead and microplastics but not for PFAS. Pitchers such as Clearly Filtered and LARQ advertise PFAS reduction based on brand-published lab tests, which no certifier lists.

Larger dispensers from the same brands carry the same PFAS listings: the PUR PLUS 30-cup dispenser (Total PFAS) and the ZeroWater 32- and 52-cup dispensers (PFOA/PFOS).
